Blak Order

Moorina Bonini and Edwina Green

Exhibited as part of DISRUPT (2019) AND REFUGE (2019)

Came to this space, A place on the Birrarung,
With no respect, with no remorse,
with no consideration for our lore’s
you will recognise, you will know, that this land, is our home.

Revoke the law that you abide, these are the rules you must accept.

Blak Order is a collaboration between Edwina Green (Trawlwoolway)  and Moorina Bonini (Yorta Yorta and Wurundjeri). The work examines the relationship between decolonisation as process, the disruption of patriarchal systems and the connection of traditional acts, spaces, and its reclamation. Textual and sculptural elements are utilised to represent an act of recognising the land and waterways, and reforming the way in which audiences perceive and understand space.
